Warren "Terry" Perkins, age 67, of Mount Vernon and formerly of Chesterville, passed away Thursday morning, February 5, 2015, at the Kobacker House in Columbus, with his loving family by his side.
On December 17, 1947, Terry was born in Marion, the son of the late Warren "Pete" Sigler and Lois Pauline (Shaffer) Perkins. He graduated from Highland High School in the Class of 1967.
Terry absolutely loved his job as an over the road truck driver. He drove for many different owner/operators over the years and hauled just about everything imaginable. He loved sharing stories about his experiences on the road.
Terry was a big football and basketball fan, always cheering for Ohio State and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed watching old Westerns, above all anything with John Wayne. He always liked eating at his favorite restaurant, the R & M Southside Diner in Mount Vernon.
He loved his family with everything he had, especially his children and grandson. He could be a stubborn and hard headed man at times, but he had a wonderfully sweet and caring side towards those he knew and loved.
Terry will be dearly missed by his two children: Tony Perkins of Marengo, Brandy (Chris Hyde) Perkins of Delaware; a grandson, Preston Perkins; two sisters: Sheila Miller of Lawrenceville, GA, Cheryl Taylor of Mason, OH; two brothers: Jerry (Brenda) Perkins of Marengo, Larry (Gerry) Perkins of Kings Mills, OH; an aunt, Betty Shaffer of Galion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Many people gave Terry the best care over the past several years including the OSU Medical Center with his kidney transplant and the Kobacker House in his final days. There were also many special friends and care givers including: Jane Puttick, Dawn Perkins, his brother, Jerry, and particularly his daughter Brandy, who was always by his side doing everything she could for him.
Terry's family will greet friends from 1 – 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services celebrating his life will be held there at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Puttick officiating. A private family burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville at a later date.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Kobacker House or to Donate Life Ohio, and may be made in care of the funeral home.
