PENNINGTON, N.J. - Ned Bennett Crislip, born on June 11, 1938, in Rock Creek, Ohio, died on Nov. 1, 2018, at home in Pennington. Preceding him in death was a daughter, Noel Crislip in 1963; and son, Steven Vint Crislip in 1996.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Carole Crislip; daughter, Julia Carole Crislip; and grandchildren, Amelia Claire Crislip and Yoko Anna Crislip, all of Pennington. After graduating from high school, Ned entered Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music in Berea, Ohio, where he earned a bachelor of music education degree with a major in the organ in 1960. Later, he received a master of music degree from Northwestern University, with the organ as his principal instrument. Further graduate work was at the University of Miami in Florida where he studied voice and was a member of the voice faculty. Ned taught junior high general music and chorus at Hoover Drive and later choral music and music theory at Athena High School. In 1978 he and his family moved to Queensbury, N.Y., where he taught for an additional 20 years. In 1996, he was awarded an alumni achievement award from the Conservatory of Music of Baldwin Wallace University for his outstanding contribution to the field of music education.
