Frank Snodgrass Obituary

Frank Snodgrass, 90, died Friday, May 20, 2005 at a local hospital. Visitation will be at Ellis Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon, May 22, from 4:00 to 6:00. A private memorial service will be held in South Carolina at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Frank was born on September 9, 1914 in Detroit, Michigan, to Mark and Anna Smrzk. He was later adopted by his stepfather, Cecil Snodgrass. He served as an infantryman in the U.S. Army during World War II. He fought under George Patton and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was very proud of his military service.

While he was in the Army, he met Margaret White, whom he married in April 1946 in High Point, North Carolina. He worked as a superintendent in a wood-working factory that made custom cabinetry for homebuilders. He and Margaret retired in 1980 to the beach in Garden City, S.C. He moved to Texas in 1996 to be closer to his daughters. He loved to fish, and he was an avid sports fan, especially for Detroit teams and the Atlanta Braves. He was a faithful and devout Catholic.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his two brothers, George and Steve.

He is survived by his four children, daughter Ann Parish of Midland, Texas; daughter Emily Davidson of Bryan, Texas; son Rick Snodgrass and his wife Melissa of Duluth, Georgia; daughter Barbara Snodgrass of Austin, Texas; and one granddaughter, Kendall Snodgrass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
