Jacinto Montelongo Obituary

Jacinto "Quiti" Montelongo, Sr. died Friday, January 18, 2008.

He was born in Del Rio, Texas on April 7, 1935 to the late Serapio Montelongo Sr. and Juana Montelongo.

He met and later married Tomasa Portillo on December 23, 1960.

He was a lifetime musician playing with the Ochoa's, The Barela Brothers, and a variety of bands.

Jacinto was self employed and owner of J.G. Montelongo Lawn Service until he retired. His favorite pastimes were working on puzzles and he loved the game of baseball.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, sisters Christina Rodriguez and Victoria Gutierrez and brothers Adolfo Acosta and Jose Montelongo.

Jacinto is survived by his son Jacinto Montelongo, Jr of Midland; daughters Betty J. Martinez and husband Adam, Martha M. Ramos, Gloria Montelongo and Antonia "Toni" Montelongo, all of Midland; one sister Rebecca Garcia of San Angelo, TX and four brothers Abel Montelongo of Chula Vista, CA, Serapio Montelongo, Jr. of San Angelo, TX, Leonardo Montelongo of Ft. Worth, TX and Mario Montelongo of Abilene, TX; grandchildren Adam Martinez, Jr, Nathan Orlando Montelongo, Sara Ramos Casado, Crystal Ann Martinez, Sabrina Margarita Ramos, Natalie Juanita Montelongo, Celeste Amanda Martinez, Alexandra Tomasa Montelongo, Isabella Ann Montelongo; one Great Grandchild Ethan Alesandro Casado and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers for the service are Mario Lopez, Miguel Aguero, Jerry Montelongo, Eric Montelongo, Larry Montelongo, Adan Portillo and D.J. Villanueva. Honorary pallbearers are Adam Martinez, Sr., Nathan Orlando Montelongo, Ethan A. Casado and Adam Martinez, Jr.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Manor Maybee Center, MMH-ICU, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital and Dr. John Foster.

A rosary is scheduled for Monday at 7:00 PM at Heavenly Gate Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, January 22nd at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Jacinto, you will be greatly missed. I have memories of you taking me to the Midland Angels baseball games when I was young. I have memories of spending Christmas with you and Tia when I was a young boy. Now you and Tia are reunited again. God Bless You and may you rest in peace.
