Peggy Caldwell Obituary

Peggy Ann Caldwell, 76, of Midland, Texas, passed away on May 25, 2017. Peggy was born on Langley Air Force Base in Virginia on April 27, 1941 to Bettie Mae Bassford and Walter P. McBroom. Peggy was married to James T. Caldwell on March 4, 1961. They were married 56 years. She worked at Sears and was a Peace Officer in Shenandoah, Texas and Kemmerer, Wyoming. She was a volunteer for the MHMR for a number of years and an advocate for children with special needs. Peggy is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Caldwell, and her brother, Jimmy McBroom. Peggy is survived by her husband, James T. Caldwell; daughter, Lorene Meeks and husband Paul and his daughter Nicki and grandchildren Samantha and Amila; grandchildren, Jim and his daughter Meinn and Paul, Jr., Brooke (Neilson) Meeks; great-grandchildren, Ryder, Emmalou, Grayson, Pendelton, and Megan; her sister, Virginia C. (McBroom) Thornton; and other family and friends. Visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 with Clint Lannon officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to your favorite charity. I have known Peggy since marrying her sister, Virginia. She was a kind and gentle person unless you got on her bad side. She was a fearless fighter for the disabled. She will be missed by all. Love you Peggy, we'll miss you.
