Years later, his mom met Julio Mireles who later became her husband and father of her two boys. "Pops" as he was affectionately called, raised Greg and his brother Albert until his death in 2014. Greg attended St. Helena's Catholic School in Hobbs, NM. Later he went to Highland Jr, High and graduated from Hobbs High School. He graduated from the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting. Later, he studied at Arizona State University and received a degree in Supply Chain Management. Greg married the love of his life, Cindy Maes on September 15, 2003 at St. Ann's Church. They had a beautiful marriage which through their faith, led them to many ACTS retreats where they made new relationships with Brothers and Sisters in Christ. A great hallmark of their marriage was the unforgettable trip they took to Rome alongside their fellow ACTS retreatants. God was already preparing them for their next chapter in life, when they accepted his three precious grandchildren to be a permanent part of their lives. Together they made a promise to raise them in the Catholic faith. After formal adoption they became a family of five. Moving forward, the children have brought so much joy to their lives. Greg started his career in the oil industry with Texaco which later was bought out by Chevron. He held many positions throughout his career. He relocated to Houston for a couple of years as Category Specialist. He was incredibly involved with the Minority and Women Owned Business Organization and was proud that he was able to help women and minorities secure contracts with Chevron. He made many long-lasting friendships along the way. Greg remained in contact with the Chevron Retirees and the Golf Group. In 2014, Greg took early retirement with Chevron. The next Monday, he started a second successful career with Morales & Maes Financial Services, Inc. and joined his wife and father-in-law as an active insurance agent. He genuinely enjoyed taking care of his clients many of whom became very good friends. Greg was involved in many organizations in Midland. He was the current President of the Permian Basin Oilfield Connections that he helped to start along with his good friend, Sarge Summers. He is the current Chair of the Midland Community Development Corporation. Greg was past Chair of the Midland Housing Authority, Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board, President of the St. Ann's School Board, St. Ann's Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Ann's Catholic Church and was appointed as a board member by the City Council to serve on the EZ Rider Board. He was also very involved and enjoyed taking part in the St. Ann's Annual Fair. Greg's greatest joy was being a Director of the ACTS Men's Team. He served on 7 teams and loved every minute of it. Anyone that knew Greg, knew that he loved his kids and mom, loved a good game of golf with his friends, loved little power naps, volunteer work and spending time with friends and family.
