MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Andrea Augusta Mathewson Martin, 74, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 12, 2013, at her home. Mrs. Martin was born June 8, 1939, in Somerset County, N.J., the daughter of the late Walter Edward Mathewson Sr. and Lillian Marie Anderson Mathewson. Andrea was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist church. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Jeanne Martin of Mount Airy; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Walt and Nancy Mathewson of New Jersey, and Edward Mathewson of Florida; many nieces and nephews; a special friend who was very dear to her, Floyd Bouldin of Pilot Mountain; and her cat, Trixie. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Martin; a son, Wayne Martin; a sister, Lynn Mathewson Hardy; a brother, Larry Mathewson; and her significant other of 25 years, Rudolph Danesi. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy will be in charge of the cremation. There are no local services planned. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
