PILOT MOUNTAIN — David Martin Semones, age 69, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at WFU Baptist Medical Center. He was born on January 27, 1948, in Mount Airy, to the late Wise Calvin Semones and Lucille Katherine Payne Semones. Mr. Semones is survived by his loving wife, Marsha "Gayle" Thomas Semones; a son, Marty (Michelle) Semones of Pilot Mountain; two daughters, Amy (Jeff) Pegg of Kernersville and Karen (Tim) Greene of Ennice; two brothers, Wise (Bettie) Semones, Jr. of Suffolk, VA, and Jonathan (Vickie) Semones of Mount Airy; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and lots of nieces, nephews, and loving friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Laura McGee. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, October 30, 2017, at Simmons Grove Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with Pastor Dale Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in Simmons Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites provided by Pilot Mountain VFW Post 9436 and Mount Airy VFW Post 2019. The family will receive friends at Simmons Grove Baptist Church prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Simmons Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Weldon Lambert, 443 Simmons Grove Church Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. I am Dr. Clance's nurse at the VA. I was very sad to hear about Mr. Semones. I feel blessed to have met him. I appreciated his kindness and the laughter and his perseverance.
