John E. (Jack) Hollow, 69, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, in St. James Healthcare after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Jack was born in Butte on Feb. 19, 1937, to James and Stella Hollow and remained in Butte all his life. His younger years were influenced by time spent at the Simon Ranch in Brown's Gulch. His love for old cars was shown by his working at several body shops during the 1950s and '60s, and by his membership in the Butte Lifters Hot Rod Club. After working for the Anaconda Co., General Contractors and others, he went to work for Butte-Silver Bow as a machinist where he remained until his retirement in 1996. Upon retiring, he worked with his son Bill at Hollow Contracting, and could be found there right up until his death.
He married Nancy (Brancamp) Hollow on August 30, 1958, and together they raised five children. Jack fulfilled his dream by building a cabin at Echo Lake where he and Nancy had many family and holiday gatherings. His dream will remain a family cornerstone for future generations.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Stella and Jim Hollow; and brother, Jim Hollow.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy; son, John, of Juneau, AK; sons and spouses, Jerry and Deena Hollow of Nampa, Idaho, Bill and Kate Hollow; daughters and spouses, Sue and Mike Lasher, Sandy and Dan McGee, all of Butte; grandchildren, John and Miranda Hollow, Mindy, Kaylie and Jordan Hollow, Kyle and Kelli Hollow, Shauna, Colin and Cal Hollow, Brett and Bryon Lasher, Tyler and Kaden Hollow, Conor, Abby and Noah McGee; great-grandchildren, Kameryn Fournier and Hayden Hollow; sisters and spouses, Betty and Ray Callahan, Patsy and Gene Byrnes; sister-in-laws, Betty Hollow and Mary Jo McMonigle; brothers-in-law and spouses, Bill and Nancy Brancamp, Bob and Elvie Brancamp, Dave and Tammy Brancamp, Ed and Mary Lou Keyes, Joan and Paul Hockabay; aunts, Marjorie Pack, Phyl and her spouse Joe Chiuminatto; and numerous nieces and nephews.
You were loved and you will be missed. Tap 'er light, Dad!
Cremation has taken place in Butte. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday after 9 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the Church. Interment of ashes will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Dear Nancy and Family,
I was 6 years old when Nancy and Jack got married. It was the first wedding I attended. That year I asked for a bride doll for Christmas.
When ever Nancy or Jack's names came up my first thought was: The perfect couple, perfect marriage, perfect family. What a wonderful example the both of you set for all to follow. How blessed your children are to have had you as parents, and how blessed the rest of the family was to be connected to such a kind, wonderful, caring man. I remember Jack with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

nancy and family, i am very sorry about jack. i always looked forward to seeing him when i made my visits to butte. his bright eyes and wide grin always lifted me up. i always liked his hearty hugs. i know that jack has been a part of my life from the start and i am very grateful that he was in my life. he was a great friend of my dad. i know that the bond that kept them attached at the hips, per say, will still linger on. this will be a big loss for my dad, as well, for the rest of those who have known jack whether through the years or just in passing. i will miss seeing him on my butte visits but i do know that my memories will always hold him near and dear to me. nancy and family i am keeping you in my prayers. god bless

My family had never met Jack in person. His greatest legacy is in that of his children. We are blessed with the friendships of Jerry and Deena. Their children, Kaden and Tyler are fine young men...in them, Jack Hollow will share many smiles, much laughter and great love.
Godspeed Mr. Hollow

I grew up with Jack being a neighbor and a friend. I will always remember him as being a gentle and kind man. Seeing him in his blue (what I thought was a fishing hat and what I just found out was his work hat)is probably one of the most vivid memories I have of him. As I would drive home from work later at night I would see Jack reading his paper in the front room and feel very safe and secure. I and my family will miss seeing him around the neighborhood. Nancy and family - please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of such a wonderful man.
Love Always and God Bless.
