Allen R. Vintondale

Formerly of Bound Brook

Allen R., "Grey Squirrel," Vintondale, formerly of Bound Brook, NJ, died Sept. 5, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Born July 12, 1938 in Somerville, NJ; son of John and Olive (Allen) Jelliffe. Preceded in death by parents; and infant brother, John. Survived by loving wife of 45 years, Shirley (Fiffick) Jelliffe, whom he married, Nov. 18, 1967; daughter, Linda, wife of Kenneth Buratti, Piscataway, NJ; grandchildren, Melissa, wife of Michael George; and Christopher, married to Amy (Matz) Buratti; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Abigail Buratti; and William George III; sister, Joan, wife of Robert Stryker, Bound Brook, NJ; and his beloved German Shepherd, Kai.

He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. Allen retired from Ethicon, a Division of Johnson & Johnson, after 28 years of service. He found both pleasure and frustration in pursuing his passion for the game of golf at Pleasant Valley Golf Club, where he was a member; as an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and carving walking sticks. Active in his community he was always eager to help others and give back.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc. South Fork, PA where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept 12. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johntown, PA. Military graveside service by St. Michael American Legion Post 551. www.dimondfuneralhome.com
