Oscar Medina Obituary
AGE: 56 • New Brunswick
Oscar Medina, 56, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 with family and friends at his side. Oscar was born, raised and has lived all of his in New Brunswick, NJ.
He worked for over twenty years for the City of New Brunswick as a Sanitation Worker. Previously he had worked for MIDCO for many years. He was a hard working person, treating each job he had as a very important job which he took pride in. An aficionado, Oscar enjoyed looking into the history of New Brunswick. He collected many newspaper articles on old buildings ready to be demolished as well as articles on historical sites.
He also loved his Hispanic heritage and was very proud of his collection of "salsa" music. Even though he had two left feet in dancing, he enjoyed music to no end. Oscar was a collector of everything in life, loved to travel especially to Hawaii, and enjoyed "flea marketing". He was a member of the Suydam Street Reformed Church, New Brunswick for many years. God will link the broken chain, As one by one we meet again. In our hearts he will always stay, Loved and remembered every day.
In our family chain of 15 brothers and sisters, one of our links has broken. Oscar, being the 8th in the family, was a hero to some of his nephews, a great father to his daughter Desiree, a great brother to be around with and a son who will be truly missed. He was predeceased by his father, Eufimio Medina and is survived by his mother, Graciana Medina, his loving high school sweetheart and companion Susan Sonnenberg, his beloved daughter Desiree and her husband George Ragland, his cherished granddaughter Olivia and another granddaughter soon to be born, his dear brothers and sisters Zenen, Antonia Vargas, Carmen Maffoire, Anaida Valentin, of Puerto Rico, Esther, of Arizona, Luisa Ojeda, of Florida, Sherly Giglio, of Maryland, Melissa, of South Carolina, Wanda Salem, Cresi, Richard, Eddie, George. and Donald. Oscar will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Visiting will take place at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral services on Tuesday at 12 pm at the Suydam Street Reformed Church, 74 Drift Street, New Brunswick, NJ. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ.
