William McCoy Obituary
Perth Amboy - William H. McCoy, Jr. 88 years of age, was born on October 23, 1930 in Perth Amboy, NJ. He departed this life on May 3, 2019 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, NJ.
William, affectionately called "Bill", attended the Perth Amboy School System and later served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War achieving the rank of a noncommissioned officer, Master Sargent. He also became a master musician and led the U.S. Air Force Band and Orchestra before completing his term in the military with honor after serving 12 years.
In his early years, bill was also a member of the historic all black "flagstaff drum and bugle corps" marching band, in the city of Perth Amboy. Bill was also a proud member of the Moose Lodge #1360.
William was predeceased by his parents, William H. McCoy, Sr. and Marjorie McCoy; his wives of three marriages, Mary Williams, Bennie Maxwell, and Mae Francis Thompson; and his second oldest son, James McCoy; and one sister, Beatrice "Bootsie" Carmen.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Robert (Donna), William III (Devene), and Wanda West; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Howard (Thelma), Patrick (Stephanie), and Robert; three sisters, Ruby McCoy, Patricia Bowers, and Evelyn Wooten; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will take place on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 9AM-11AM at the St. James AME Zion Church , 68 Commerce Street, Perth Amboy, NJ with a funeral to follow at 11AM. The Interment will be at Alpine Cemetery in Perth Amboy NJ. Arrangements entrusted to Buckland Funeral Home Somerville, NJ.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Bill McCoy. My memories of Bill go back to the Perth Amboy Fast Pitch Softball League. Bill was one of the toughest pitchers to face , playing alongside with his brothers Howie, Pat, and Bobby. I remember his dad rooting for his guys on the sidelines.
