Alan Lee Phelps was born on July 26, 1957 in Reed City, MI the son of Roland and Ellen Jean (Tiedt) Phelps. Alan passed away in his home after a hard fight with Mastocytosis and MDS on October 13, 2021. Alan was proceeded in death by his grandparents Edmund & Marjorie Tiedt, Guy & Ila Coleman and William & Julia Phelps.
Al began his machining career working for his Dad at Sentry Machine in Clarkston, MI. He then worked for General Motors Truck & Coach in Pontiac before moving to the Evart area. Alan was employed by several machine shops including Minute Man Mould for 15 years, then retired from machining after 9 years at Pollington Machine in Marion.
Alan loved the outdoors. He loved to hunt and even better, loved fishing. Playing euchre, cribbage, horseshoes and motorcycles were also a few of his favorite things.
Alan is a loved Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin and Friend!!! He will be greatly missed by: his parents, Ellen Jean (Paul) Smaltz of Sears and Roland (Gladys) Phelps of Evart; siblings, Kevin (Sandy) Phelps of Clarkston, Randy (Nancy) Phelps of Ada, Diane (Bruce) Brackett of Sears, Marcia (Scott) Truxton-Frye of Norton Shores, Tom (Amy) Bell of Greenville, Patti Bell of Rodney, Marshall (Crystal) Smaltz of Caledonia, David (Cheri) Phelps of Lowell, Missy (Eric) Schwoerer of Green Bay, WI and Andy Phelps of Grand Rapids; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4PM to 6PM on Sunday at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Monday, October 18th at the funeral home with Patrick A. Tiedt and Joshua T. King speaking. He will be laid to rest at Orient Township Cemetery, Sears, MI.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center, 4499 S. 220th Ave., Reed City, MI 49677
