Frank Hempel Obituary

LITTLE RIVER | Frank {ldquo}Bud{rdquo} Hempel Jr., loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully entered into his heavenly home, Thursday, November 5, 2009 after a courageous battle with a chronic lung disease.

He was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1923. Having a life long passion for the ocean, he served as a lifeguard on the beaches of Margate, N.J., and later served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He was a long standing member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church.

Bud was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Hempel, and son, Rick Hempel.

He is survived by his four children, eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration of Bud's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church.

What a great grandfather, and role model he was. I cought a 5 ft. Shark with him when I was 15 years old.
