Lizzie Mae R. Strickland

LORIS | Lizzie Mae Rheuark Strickland, 79, the widow of Lacy Hugh Strickland, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2008, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence following an illness.

Mrs. Strickland was born December 13, 1928 in Horry County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Calhoun Butler Rheuark and the late Mary Elizabeth McDowell Rheuark. She was a member of Zoan United Methodist Church. Mrs. Strickland was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Adult Sunday School class. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Strickland was predeceased by one son, Rudy Strickland; one sister, Bonnie Harrelson; and one brother, Henry Rheuark.

Mrs. Strickland is survived by her son, Carl Strickland and his wife, Christine, of Loris; her daughter, Wanda S. Wicker and husband, Larry, of Trinity, N.C.; one sister, Florine Herrington of Georgetown; five brothers, Donald Rheuark and his wife, Phyllis, Lloyd Rheuark and his wife, Linda, and Pete Rheuark and his wife, Lorraine, all of Thomasville, N.C., Paul Rheuark and his wife, Mary, of Lexington, N.C. and Leland Rheuark of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Billy Strickland and his wife, Kim, of Loris and Craig McDaniel and his wife, Monica, of Thomasville, N.C.; and five great-grandchildren, Quentin Strickland, Bailey Strickland, Brayden Strickland, Megan McDaniel and Logan McDaniel.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2008 from Zoan United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Watts, the Rev. Sam Clardy and Mr. Glen Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Ward Funeral Home.
