Mr. Thurman O. Bessant, 82, husband of Estelle J. Bessant, passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 at Agape Rehabilitation of Conway.
Born December 8, 1933 in Conway he was the son of the late James Thomas "Tommie" and Frances Chestnut Bessant. Mr. Bessant retired from Wolverine Brass as an inspector. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and beekeeping. Mr. Bessant was a member of Conway Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Bessant was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Estelle Jones Bessant; his children, Wanda (Jimmy) Barnhill, Rose (Douglas) Hardwick, and Jamie (Sheila) Bessant; his grandchildren, Marsha, Steven, Stephanie, Brandon, Chris, and Nikki; and his great-grandchildren, Sunny, Copper, Madalyn, Ariel, Courtney, Mason, and Brailee.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, officiated by Rev. Phillip Cannon and Rev. Clyde Hendrix. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Aynor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday at 1:00PM. The family will also receive friends at Conway Free Will Baptist Church (Hwy. 701 South) following the graveside committal service.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place MS 271, Memphis, TN 38105.
