Barbara J. Voss, 82, passed May 21, 2022 at home surrounded by family. Born in Sandwich, IL., April 2, 1940 the daughter of Lester and Blanche (Anderson) Sherman. On December 15, 1956 she married David L. Voss and shared 65 years in marriage together. Barbara was a lifelong member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. In her early years she enjoyed being on the bowling league, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and the Jr. Women's Club. She was a bus driver and employee for the Somonauk school district for more than 25 years. Barbara loved taking trips to Chicago and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. She loved going to the Sandwich Fair. Barbara was an avid reader and a member of the group Friends of the Library. She is survived by her husband David, of Somonauk, daughters Carol Maser of Sandwich, IL. Chris (Chris) Kirk of Roundup, Montana, brothers Henry "Butch" (Linda) Sherman of Algoma, Wisconsin, Joe (Virginia) Sherman of Somonauk, IL, son-in-law Michael Conley of Somonauk, IL. She leaves behind grandchildren Natalie, Christopher, Sada, Jesse and Nikita. Great grandchildren Annalise, Andrew, Vivian, Corbin, and many life long friends. She will be deeply missed by all. She was preceded in death by infant daughter Cathy Jo, infant son Christopher Dean, daughter Cindy Conley, mother Blanche Sherman, father Lester Sherman, in-laws John and Leone Voss, sister and brother in-law Robert and Joanne Olson, brother John Sherman, special nieces Linda Hozie and Nancy McFadden. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Somonauk, IL with Rev. Chris Schoon officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the church. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church, Open Door Rehabilitation Center or the donor's choice.
