A Life of Love & Dedication
Amilta "Mimi" Cerezo Hernandez, age 90, of Stanhope, New Jersey (for the past four years), entered into rest on November 1, 2025. She was born August 9,1935 in Aguirre, Puerto Rico, the beloved daughter of Maria Louisa Hernandez and Flor Cerezo (both deceased). Mimi was the third oldest of eleven siblings.
She moved to Bronx, New York, and then for many years resided in Jersey City, Paterson and Newark, New Jersey - leaving loving memories in every place. Mimi was an extraordinary woman whose life was marked by hard work, creativity, faith and family.
She spent many years as a gourmet chef, the proud owner of her own restaurant, delighting countless patrons with her skills and passion. Later, she also operated her own cleaning business - again exemplifying her drive, independence and care for others.
Mimi had a deep love for travel: her favorite places included Las Vegas and Atlantic City, Portugal and Spain. Each winter she spent time in Puerto Rico, and summers in New Jersey brought her joy.
Her faith anchored everything - she was a faithful woman of God and attended The Love of Jesus Family Church in
Paterson, NJ.
