Dear Family members, fleetingly met your father, Tony Barton at his Professor `s home on Fith Avenue, Pittsburgh, in the early 70´s. There, along with your mother, Marilyn Barton, he remained a loving enigma for many years.
Through Marilyn Barton, he remained a respected and admired professor. Please accept my heartfelt condolences as you recall the shared memories and relationship he extended to all of you, as a renown Duquesne University Member.

My deepest condolences to your family on the loss of your beloved spouse, father, grandfather, and brother. I was one of his many grateful Duquesne University students who he honored with a reference to get admittance into the a psychology graduate program. He also coined, as far as I know, and taught the term "pain and suffering" when describing mental distress and left me questioning what it means to thrive in my life. A sign of an incredible psychology professor! I am forever grateful. May you find comfort and the utmost pride in what your husband, and father no matter how many generations away from you as you read this, gave to our/your world.

My sympathies to the entire Barton family on the passing of Tony.. he was a very big parting my life and his wisdom and knowledge in his field opened my eyes and my heart to a wide range of familial experiences as well as self awareness. To know that he has assisted so many people, taught so many students and lived a full life is the joy in the sadness. My prayers to the entire family.

I only knew Tony by reputation and family contact through Duquesne University. Our paths crossed at the home of Professor Frank Buckley, Phd. Duquesne University. But I remained in touch through his family and marriage to Marilyn Barton. He remained an enigma but well respected father and husband.
To his family and children he remained a beloved father as did his wife of early years, Marylin Barton, a beloved mother. My prayers and sympathy will remain with his surviving family.
