Antonio Buccitti Obituary

Published by Cremation Society of Connecticut - Windsor on Sep. 17, 2022.
It is with a heavy heart we announce the death of our dad, Antonio A. Buccitti, 99, who passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at his home in Waterbury surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. He was married to the love of his life, Alice Guerrera for 70 years until her death in 2020. He was born on November 6, 1922 in Bridgeport to the late Bartolomeo and Apollonia (Coscia) Buccitti. He graduated from Warren Harding High School and then continued his education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. When WWII broke out, he interrupted his college education to serve his country. After the war he returned to Rensselaer where he received a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1949 and later accomplished his Masters of Science degree at Renssaeler. He served three years in the Army Air Corp, WWII, and was discharged as aircraft maintenance officer and meteorologist. Tony had a wonderful, diversified engineering career beginning with Producto Machine, Plume & Atwood, and then A.W Haydon in where he designed many special timers for different industries, a special stepper escapement timer and patent for the Minuteman Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. He retired from Schick Safety Razor in Milford in 1984 where he designed the Schick Hot Lather Machine during his employment with them. His favorite hobbies were eating, the stock market, socializing, bocce, tennis, golf, traveling the world and playing cards!!! Tony was the most loving and caring man who truly loved his family and friends and genuinely interested in their lives. He was very generous in giving to persons in need, friends, and family. Tony was also a past president of the UNICO CLUB of Waterbury 1963-1964 whose motto is "Service above Self" which was his mantra in life. He was a member of UNICO from 1960 up until his passing. Tony is survived by his three children, Karen Buccitti (Charles Cumbo) of Plymouth, Michele Anderson (Mike) of Prospect, and Jeff Buccitti (Grace) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, and two wonderful grandsons, Kyle and Tristan Anderson whom he adored. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Pat Pray; brothers-in-law, Leo Pray and Richard Vitale as well as many loved nieces and nephews and cousins who were treasures to him. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Rd., Waterbury, CT 06708. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Deepest condolences to you and your families, Karen, Michele and Jeff. As a child I remember my mother bringing me to your house, where your mother had ten balls in the air while she greeted us. Coffee and desserts came out and your father would join us, if he wasn't at work. Alice, full of enthusiasm for anything you shared and Tony, with his soothing voice and gentle way of making a little girl feel she was part of the discussion. I am sad for you kids, but happy for your parents who are together once again.
They were remarkable people and beautiful souls. ♥
With love and Sympathy,
Linda Cappello
