Archie was born and raised in Edgecombe County. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his service,
Archie went to work at Superior Cable, where he worked for over 40 years before his retirement. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and cherished spending time with friends and family on the outer banks.
Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Leonis and Ruth Andrews; step-daughter, Ashley Stockton; and brothers, Larry
Andrews and Alton Andrews.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara Sykes Andrews; sons, Archie Melvin Andrews, Jr. and wife, Wendy, of Wilmington and Christopher Todd Andrews and Wife, Janet, of Tarboro; step-daughter, Cindy Coley and husband, Charles, of Tarboro; step-son, Lance Mewborn of Tarboro; and brother, Luther Andrews and wife, Alice, of Washington.
