Bro. Bill McCray, 80, of the Welcome Hill Community on Crow Mountain near Pottsville, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at his home. He was born April 12, 1924, at Darty, Oklahoma, the son of Pete and Lizzy Ford McCray. He was a United States Marine veteran of World War II and was a former employee of the Pope County Road Department where he worked for numerous years. He ministered about God in the Yell County Jail and to everyone he ever came in contact with. He loved his fellowman and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is going to be greatly missed by all his loved ones and friends from near and far. He attended the Spring Valley Full Gospel Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Pat McCray of Pottsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Diane McCray of Delaware; three daughters and sons-in-law, Tami and Gary Moles of Delaware, Faye and Raymond Hodge of Diana, Texas, and Betty and Wendall Monjay of Longview, Texas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Beatrice and Kenneth Whitford of Norman, Oklahoma and Martha and Jim Busby of Davis, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Graveside service and burial will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at Bowden Cemetery on Crow Mountain with True Fitch and Otis Goff officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Page, Clayton Partain, Roy Cain, Mark Salerno, Michael Alvey, and Clebern Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Whorton, Ben King, David Hensley, Glen King, Richard Welcher, and Buddy Light.
