Bill Wolbert

November 9, 1926 - September 16, 2013 Bill Wolbert went to be with the Lord on Sep. 16, 2013 at age 86. He was born in Zeeland on Nov. 9, 1926 and passed away at his home in Holland. Bill is survived by his wife Grace (Reitsma) Wolbert, children Nancie Schmidt of Aurora IL, Ed and Gina Wolbert of Lisle IL, brother Jay Wolbert of Holland, sister Marcia Wolbert of Holland, step-children Joni Reitsma of Elmhurst IL, Randy and Patti Reitsma of Jenison MI, and Gary and Ronda Reitsma of Standale MI; along with 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna (Knol) Wolbert, step-son Albert Reitsma and sister-in-law Ann Wolbert. Bill served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, graduated with chemistry degrees from Hope College and Indiana University and had a long career in research and development. After his retirement, Bill enjoyed woodworking, gardening and charitable work, including foster care and disaster relief with the Red Cross. Bill was a member of the Graafschap Christian Reformed Church. Visitation will be held from 3 pm until 6 pm on Wednesday, Sep. 18, 2013 at the Langeland Sterenberg Funeral Home at 315 East 16th Street in Holland. The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sep. 19, 2013 at the Graafschap Christian Reformed Church at 5973 Church Street in Holland, followed by internment at the Graafschap Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to World Renew or the American Red Cross.
