Blanche Pfendler Obituary

BOONVILLE - Blanche D. Pfendler, 96, of Post St., formerly of Jackson Hill Road, widow of Bernard "Bern" Pfendler, passed away while surrounded by the loving care of her family, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.

She was born on the Denslow homestead farm on the East Road, Town of Leyden, on June 14, 1929, a daughter of Kenneth G. and Lillian Mowers Denslow. Blanche grew up on the East Road and received her education at Port Leyden Central School, graduating with the Class of 1946. For a time thereafter, she was employed as a telephone operator for General Telephone Co. in Boonville.

On October 16, 1948, Blanche was united in marriage with Bernard "Bern" Pfendler, at the Boonville Methodist Church. Afterwards the couple constructed their home on Jackson Hill Road, near Boonville. Mr. Pfendler, who was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII and a retired rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, passed away on November 14, 2002.

Blanche was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Boonville. She was an avid bowler and had bowled in two different Bowling leagues for over 43 years; the Hi Lo League and the Saturday Nite Co-Ed League, and also bowled in the Thursday Senior League. She enjoyed playing golf and played on the Wednesday Ladies Golf League, Tuesday Senior Golf League and the Saturday Night Co-Ed Golf League, all at Woodgate Pines Golf Course, in Boonville. She was also a member of the Charles J. Love Post American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, both of Boonville. For many years she was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens of Boonville, serving as club president.

For many years Mrs. Pfendler organized and headed many large bus tour trips, destined for popular locations throughout the United States and into Canada.

Blanche greatly loved her husband, Bern and her children, grandchildren and extended family. She treasured her role in her life as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, who provided a loving home for all.

She is survived by a daughter, Tracy Liechty, and her companion, Andrew Manning, Boonville; five grandchildren, Seth Pfendler, Ryan, Drew and Matt Pfendler and Jonathan Rauscher; great-grandchildren, Rosemarie Rauscher, Thomas Rauscher, Greyson Pfendler and Gianna Pfendler; and a daughter-in-law, Lori Pfendler. In addition to her husband, Bern, she was predeceased by two sons, David Pfendler, on June 21, 2016, and Barry Pfendler, on December 8, 2022. Also surviving are two brothers and a sister-in-law, G. Edwin Denslow and his companion, Rick, Bracken Ridge, PA, Roderick (Linda) Denslow, Clermont, Fla.; and by a sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Fred Kline, Boonville. She was predeceased by brothers, Richard Denslow, Bruce Denslow, Donald Denslow, Douglas Denslow; and by a sister, Madeline Schoff. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Blanche was a dear friend. We always shared hugs at Trinity. She always complimented my cooking. Rest in peace.
