Carlos Cardenas, of Hartsdale, New York, passed away on October 17, 2022 at the age of 69. Carlos, known affectionately as "Charlie Brown" to his siblings, was born on September 30, 1953 in Mexico City. He is survived by the love of his life, Maria "Lupita" Cardenas, his wife of 46 years, and their children, John Cardenas (Eliza), Jennifer Nunes (Samuel), Christopher Cardenas (Stephanie) and Paul Cardenas (Danica), as well as four grandsons, Logan, Preston, Jacob and Issac. Carlos is also survived by his mother, Victorina "Mami Vicky" Cardenas, sisters Azalia and Susan Cardenas, brother Michael Cardenas, niece Ivon, nephews Andres, Daniel and Michael Junior, great nieces Nicole and Sasha, and grand nephews Chaise, Chance and Ashton. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Cardenas, Sr.
Carlos was a loving husband and devoted father to his children. Loyal to his faith and an active member of the community, those who knew Carlos could depend on him to give his all. He had a lifelong love and passion for soccer, serving many years as the President of the Greenburgh Soccer Club. Prior to retirement, Carlos was an Engineer, designing and producing batteries for military and commercial use.
Carlos was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he had always dreamed of. He was a hard worker, valued truth and integrity, and encouraged his children to do the same.
He had a knack for anything mechanical, especially automobile-related. He loved working on cars and would often have one of his sons holding up a flashlight while he changed the oil, replaced the spark plugs or checked the timing belt on one of the family cars. He was the type of person who would choose to repair something over buying a new one.
Wherever Carlos went, he would spark conversations -- with family, friends or strangers alike. No matter the discussion, he always gave people his full attention. Carlos loved to talk and make people smile. He gave with his whole heart, a quality that will surely be missed by all who loved him.
Please feel free to share any memories, photos or videos of Carlos. His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of his friends and family.

Carlos was a great friend. A dedicated and highly respected member of our community. He cared deeply about others and always put other people first. He made a positive difference in other people's lives. He will be missed. Never forgotten. I wish the world was made up of more people like Carlos Cardenas. PAUL FEINER, Greenburgh Town Supervisor
