Carolyn "Kelly" Riley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2018.
Kelly was born in 1945 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Joseph and Dorothy Rhodes. She was the oldest of their four children. She attended Hot Springs High School and shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life, David Riley who had just joined the Army. Once David had completed his training she joined him overseas and soon started a family. Kelly was a devoted wife and a mother of two sons; David Jr. "Bexar" and Michael. Together they traveled through Europe for almost a decade before returning to the United States. They spent time in West Germany, Belgium, France, Arkansas and East Texas before making San Antonio Texas their forever home. Kelly attended both San Antonio and St. Phillips Community Colleges and the University of the Incarnate Word . She completed courses in Psychology, Child Care Development, Personnel management and Business Accounting. She was a very creative person and a talented artist. She was a gifted painter and potter. She combined her education and artist talents as an activities director for many retirement communities and hospice programs. She brought many smiles to faces with her glitter, giggles and bright colors. Miss Kelly was a lover of animals, the arts, the Sci-fi network, spooky movies and every holiday. You could count on her to decorate floor to ceiling from the front curb to the back fence. She enjoyed spreading holiday cheer. Kelly is preceded in death by her parents, husband David, younger brother Larry and Son Michael. She leaves behind her younger sister Barbara and brother- in-law Alex Strawn, her younger brother Bobby and Sister-in-law Diane Rhodes, Her son David "Bexar" Jr. and daughter-in-law Yvonne O'Riley; grandchildren Mathew, Melanie, Megan, Mark, Kasper, Racheal and Amber; one great granddaughter Elena and many nieces and nephews. Aunt Carolyn, oh how we loved you so. You will be truly missed, but now you and Uncle David are together again and that is something I would not take away from you even if we could bring you back. RIP sweet lady.
