Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Connie Jean Hayes (Ardella) – a kind and ever-positive soul – passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the age of 73 at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, FL.
Connie was a loving mother to her two sons, James (Jimmy) and his wife, Michele Hayes (Merritt Island), and Joseph (Joey) Hayes (Merritt Island) and to her only grandson, Travis Hayes (Merritt Island). Connie is also survived by her siblings, Ann DeMaria (Ardella, Merritt Island), Brett O'Hara (Clearwater), Scot O'Hara and husband Dale Boyer (Chicago, IL), Norita Micka and husband Dave (O'Hara, Melbourne Beach), Gary O'Hara and wife Mary (Savannah, GA), and Debra O'Hara (Lakeland); nieces and nephews, Angela Dale, Michelle O'Hara, Kim O'Hara, Jocelyn Gompers, Gregory Gompers, Ryan O'Hara, Taryn O'Hara, Sean O'Hara, David Hayes, Michael Hayes, Sue Deming, Julie Barham, Lisa Agne, Karen Hayes, Tony Young, Deana Hayes and dozens of aunts/uncles/cousins.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard (Lenny) Hayes; her parents, Jerome (Jerry) and Angelina (Angie) O'Hara; birth father, John Ardella; and niece, Rosalie DeMaria.
Connie was born in Rochester, NY and graduated from R.L. Thomas High School (Class of 1967). She moved to Merritt Island in 1972, where she and husband, Lenny, raised their two sons and operated Videoland for a number of years, followed by Picture This. After her husband Lenny passed away in 2003, Connie immersed herself in the karaoke community of Central Brevard, where she was fondly known as "Little Cher."
A memorial service for Connie is scheduled for 11 am, November 12 at Pentecostals of Cocoa, 1901 Michigan Ave. Cocoa, Fl 32922. A private gathering for immediate family only will follow the service. Flowers can be sent to 280 E. Lauren Ct. Merritt Island, Florida 32952
