Corrine D. McCarthy, 77, of Conneaut Lake, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.
She was born February 19, 1945 in Meadville, a daughter of Dale D. and Frances Anthony Reese. She had been married to Ronald Smock and subsequently married James Edward McCarthy February 14, 1970 and he preceded her in death July 17, 2005.
Corrine was a cook at Wesbury for 18 years. She loved going on long walks, crocheting and never met a crossword puzzle she couldn't complete. She was a resident of Conneaut Lake for most of her adult life. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed working on the family farm and raising four children. Corrine had a quiet demeanor, but never passed on an opportunity to make someone laugh with a joke or funny story. She had a gentle spirit and her kindness was seen in the little things she did for others such as crocheting blankets for residents of Wesbury who didn't have family members to visit them, or sneaking some occasional cookies to a favorite patient or two. She was a former Brownie and Girl Scout leader and was formerly active with 4H, showing rabbits at the Crawford County Fair.
Survivors include three children, Ronald Smock-McCarthy of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Diane Hornstein (Jamie) of Conneaut Lake, and Kelly Rokosky (Eric) of Selinsgrove; six grandchildren, Nathan, Katelyn, Madison, Natalie, Garrett, and Caleb; a son-in-law, Lloyd Rhoades of Linesville; two sisters, Vickie Kantz (Tim) of Saegertown and Shirley Cornell of Meadville; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Rhoades; a grandson, Grayden Hornstein; and a sister, Jeannette Bullis.
Services are private at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE.
Memorials may be made to the Wesbury Foundation (for the benevolent care fund), 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.
