Daniel Francis Eberle, 70, of Lafayette died in his residence on Tuesday, December 12, 2006. Born in Lafayette on October 4, 1936 to the late Paul and Gladys (Wood) Eberle, he was a lifetime resident. He married Phyllis Ann Eaton on August 21, 1955 in Lafayette and she survives. Mr. Eberle was a 1954 graduate of Jefferson High School, the FBI National Academy, and a graduate of Keeler polygraph Institute. He was Captain of the Investigative Division of the Lafayette City Police Department for 20 years before retiring. He then started Eberle Investigative Services and Polygraphing. He was a former member of Central Presbyterian Church for 35 years and a current member of Elston Presbyterian. He served as Elder, Deacon and on many committees and head of ushers at both churches. He served in the Army with the 11th Airborne Paratroopers. He was a member of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Police. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packer and Indiana University sports. He enjoyed NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. He was a member of the 1949 Lafayette Little League Baseball World Series team that played in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Mick (wife, Jill) Eberle of West Lafayette and Larry (companion, Prudence Zatorski) Eberle of Lafayette, and two brothers, James and Harry Eberle of Lafayette. Burial will be private. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Also surviving are grandchildren, Matthew (companion, Megan Kennedy), Michael, Staci, and Nicki Eberle, many nieces and nephews, and his two dogs, Kati and Chicalee.
