Mr David Ellery Ammons

IRMO - David Ellery Ammons, 53, died Saturday, February 21, 2009. Born in Charleston, he was a son of the late Beaty Deleon Ammons and Emily Theola Humphries Ammons. A graduate of Johnsonville High School, he retired after thirty-three years with the Dutch Fork Branch of the US Postal Service. He also served in the National Guard. Mr. Ammons was the leader and guitarist of “Good to Go� band. He coached for the Irmo Little League and Youth Football, was a former Mason and member of National Association of Letter Carriers and Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are his wife of thirty-one years, Teresa Taylor Ammons; sons, Justin Beaty Ammons and his fiancee, Lacey R. Rabon, of Columbia and Colby Carlton Ammons of Irmo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Erwyn and Dot Ammons of Mt. Pleasant and Phil and Barbara Ammons of Conway; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn Ammons of Valentines, Va., Debbie and Tony Hanna of Johnsonville and Paula and Quinn Alford of Cheraw; eight nieces; nine nephews; ten grandnephews; and six grandnieces. Memorial service will be Monday at 4 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
