Dave was a wonderful friend and neighbor. We shared many a conversation about our industrial business experiences, he from the metals world and me from the automotive perspective. He was a involved community leader and a trusted friend. Our community and The Marshes will miss his presence and leadership. God bless his soul and his dear wife Ginny.

There was always something about Dave Dawson that made me feel lucky to be his niece. When I read the beautiful letter from my cousins about his life, I realized that even though I didn't know everything, I sensed his character and accomplishments simply in his presence. Although I didn't get to see him nearly enough throughout the years, Uncle Dave felt like a pillar in my life.
My fondest memory is from childhood when I was spending the night, and each cousin was lined up for bear hugs before bed. As a stoic little kid, I marched up to the back of the couch where Uncle Dave was doling out hugs and tickles, and stuck my hand out for a formal shake. He solemnly took my hand, and yanked me up and over the couch for a goodnight bear hug. He knew what I needed and I'll never forget that.
If I feel his loss this much as a distant niece, I can imagine how deeply he will be missed by his wife, his kids and his friends and family (e.g. my mom won't know what books to read next!). This globe won't be the same without his wry smile, the timber in his voice, his conversation skills, his knowledge of SO many things, and his ability to make you feel seen.
Sending much love and condolences from the Colorado Gordon's.
