Dean Allen Robison collapsed during therapy at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, on May 21, 2024, at 3:36 pm in the afternoon, at the age of 85.
Dean was born September 2, 1938, and grew up in the Walker area on the family farm working odd jobs until he went to work with Carlson Construction driving a dump truck. He frequently talked about working on construction of the old Highway 20. Dean later moved to Dysart to work for Wiecks Feed and Livestock. This job led to his purchasing and starting his own Dean Robison Trucking business.
Dean transported steel from Chicago to Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas then returning with salt to Waterloo Mills Co. He retired in Dysart where he spent time helping with the yard work and attending car races in the surrounding area. Dean also went to Michigan and North Carolina to the races.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Vera (Walton) Robison; a brother, Bob Robison and a sister Delores Armstrong.
Dean is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lynda (Mason) Robison; three children, Doug Robison, Denise (John) Hockey and Deena Sauer; one step-daughter, Jamie (Chris) VanHauen; one step-son, Marty Grimm; and many grandchildren. Jamie lived with Dean and Lynda while growing up.
The family requests no flowers. A memorial fund will be set up in Dean’s memory.
Memorial Gathering: Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Overton Funeral Home, 707 Clark St., Dysart, Iowa.
