Dennis Gene Smith

Dennis Gene Smith, age 70, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the Aspire Senior Living Center in Advance, Missouri.
He was born January 29, 1953 in Cape Girardeau, the son of Fletcher and Edna Marie Lincoln Smith.
Dennis attended the Cape Girardeau Public Schools. He had worked at the former Florsheim Shoe Company, Ole Hickory Pits, and as a handy man in Cape Girardeau. Dennis was gifted as a self-taught artist and would love to sketch and draw pictures and also enjoyed vegetable gardening.
Loving survivors include five children, Tracy (James) Stratton of Cape Girardeau, Stacy (Chad) Lucas of Marble Hill, Missouri, Brandon Smith of Sturdivant, Missouri, Richard (Brittany) Price of Cape Girardeau, and Matthew (Katie) Smith of Pevely, Missouri; four siblings, Ronnie (Phyllis) Smith, Jerry (Ruby) Smith, and Linda Sanders all of Cape Girardeau, and Lavonda (Durwood) Thurman of Jackson; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, Joyce McGee and Rodney Wayne Smith, and a son Shannon Smith.
A graveside service will be 2 pm Friday, July 21, 2023, at New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with Rev. Michael Davis officiating.
Memorial donations may be given in memory of Dennis to the donor's church or charity of choice.
