Dolores Owens, 92, passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2023 at her home. She was born in Utica on August 29, 1930, a daughter of the late Edward and Natalie O'Connor Morgan and was a 1948 graduate of Chadwicks High School.
On May 14, 1949 Dolores and her high school sweetheart, Robert, were united in marriage in St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chadwicks.
Together they shared a loving marriage of 44 years until his death in June of 1993.
For many years, Dolores and Bob owned and operated the Cloverleaf Dairy in Chadwicks and prior to retiring in 2010 she worked in the F.X. Matt Brewery Gift Shop.
She was a faithful member of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Church (Our Lady of Lourdes) in Utica and was active with the New Hartford Historical Society.
Dolores possessed a strong faith and was proud of her Irish heritage.
She was an avid reader, huge New York Yankees fan and her favorite hobby was knitting.
Dolores was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will forever remain in the hearts of her family: her daughter Therese Scholl, her sons and daughters in law; Robert Jr. and Karla Owens and Michael and Patricia Owens, her 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, her sister in law, Barbara Owens Couture, her brother in law, Rodney Owens and had a special relationship with her many nieces and nephews, especially Lynn Taylor Force.
She was predeceased by her sisters; Patricia Taylor and Jane Donlon and her nieces; Michaela Knapp and Katherine Ruszala.
Dolores' Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 9:30 at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Chapel, 2222 Genesee St. Utica.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St. Sauquoit.
Interment will be in Deansboro Cemetery.
