Donald Joseph Schultz, 71, of Nickerson, died December 12, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. He was born March 12, 1952, in Hays, to Samuel R. and Hubertine C. (Schmidtberger) Schultz.
Don graduated from Nickerson High School. He worked in construction for many years for several local contractors, in outside sales for Fastenal, as head of maintenance for Bar-K-Bar Arena and Celebration Centre in Lyons, and most recently in sales at Pride Ag Ace Hardware in Lyons. An avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, Don loved woodworking, welding, gardening, refinishing tractors, tinkering and fixing anything that needed fixed, and hanging out with friends. He was of the Catholic faith.
Don is survived by: his partner, "Bessie" Elizabeth 'Beth' Terwey of the home; children, Jamie Schultz (Heidi) of Hutchinson, Jennifer Harvey (John) of South Hutchinson, Kelli Almquist (Terry) of Nickerson, Dustin Schultz (Molly) of Lyons; stepdaughter, Brandi Nordin (Earl) of McPherson; grandchildren, Lawson Schultz, Libby Schultz, Johnnie Harvey, Jayden Harvey, Jaylee Harvey, Jaxson Almquist, Kynli Almquist, Lyndi Almquist, Adaline Schultz, Mallory Schultz; brother, Dave Schultz (Diane) of Hutchinson; beloved dog, Charlie; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Dennis Schultz, Doug Schultz; and sister, Karen Slack.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The service will be livestreamed and the link to view his service will be active beginning at 10:15 a.m. the day of the service. Click here to view the service
Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday thru Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
The family encourages attendees to wear casual or Chiefs attire to the service.
