Donald Rae Shorter

Donald Rae Shorter, 75 of Spencer, Indiana Passed away August 11,
2022 at Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer. Born March 17,
1947 in Muncie, Indiana, he was the son of the late Harold and
Wilma (Rooksberry) Shorter. He was a 1965 graduate of Linton–
Stockton High School.
He worked as a truck driver for many years. Driving most recently
for Walmart for over fourteen years until his retirement in 2014. Don
was a US Army Veteran, proud member of the Masonic Lodge,
Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine.
Don enjoyed driving and working on cars, listening to music, working
crossword puzzles, watching Indianapolis Colts football, and
enjoying friends and family. Don never met a stranger and made
friends everywhere he went. He was a kind soul who always tried to
help people in need.
He married Kristin S. (Neaman) on January 24, 1976, in Speedway,
Indiana, she survives.
Also surviving Don are two sons, Grant (Susan) Shorter of Spencer,
and Scott (Tanya) Lawalin of Indianapolis. Don had six
grandchildren, Christi (Adam) Thompson, Lydia (Jordan) Barriger,
Megan Hall, Javy Lawalin, Tag Lawalin and Lucy Lawalin, plus several
great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life at a later date.
