I met Dorotea in 1967 when her oldest daughter Claudia and I were both in high school. She was a kind, thoughtful, and welcoming woman who loved people and expressed her love with her generosity. I will never forget her exquisite lunches, the care packages she sent home with me every time I visited, and her delicious cakes. If there is a Heaven, Dorotea is there now baking cakes to welcome the new arrivals. But more than her cooking what made my visits to Dorotea and Claudia special, were her stories about the old days, her family and her first years in the United States. Those stories brought me back to my youth when Claudia and I were still kids in high school. I will miss that and cherish those memories the most. Arrivederci e grazie di tutto Dorotea. Ci mancherai!
