Edward H. Christian Jr.

Edward H. Christian, Jr., 83, of Stroud Township, died Tuesday morning, August 15, 2023, at Spring Village at Pocono in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Margaret "Peggy" Ann Christian with whom he shared 56 years of marriage at the time of her death on July 15, 2023.
Born on July 4, 1940 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Edward H. Sr. and Marie (Stoltz) Christian; and served in the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps.
Ed was an English teacher and Varsity football coach for the East Stroudsburg Area School District for fifty-two years until his retirement in 2018. While at East Stroudsburg his teams won 16 league titles, three Eastern Conference Crowns and three District XI Championships.
He is a member of the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Lehigh Valley Sports Hall of Fame, East Stroudsburg Area School District Athletic Hall of Fame, and National Football Foundation Lehigh Valley Chapter Hall of Fame.
Ed was a also a PIAA Basketball Referee and member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was an avid reader; and rooted for the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and especially Penn State football.
Even though his passion may have been football, his true love was his family. He looked forward to family dinners and vacations, adored his children and grandchildren and always made sure he attended their events.
Surviving are two children, Edward Christian and wife Cindy of East Stroudsburg, and Patti Linnane and husband Matt of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Tyler Christian, Owen Christian and Colton Christian all of Stroudsburg and Risa Linnane of Harrisburg; and a sister, Kathy Krupsha and husband Andrew of Sugarloaf.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Christian.
There will be no services at this time.
