Ellen K McKechnie

Of North Fort Myers Florida, Formally of Wolfeboro NH, and Needham MA passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 2, 2024 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack New Hampshire at the age of 85.

Born in Mount Vernon New York to the late Edward and Gladys (Weir) Kelly, Ellen was the beloved wife of the late William V. McKechnie Jr, devoted sister to the late Patricia Cowles, and loving mother to Todd McKechnie, and his wife Kathleen of Wolfeboro NH, Scott McKechnie, and his wife Susan of Holliston MA, Brett McKechnie, and his wife Laurie of Hamilton MA. Ellen was also "Nans" to 10 amazing granddaughters Kayla, Alissa, Kelsey, Riley, Sara, Julie, Laura, Logan, Paige, and Brynn as well as a great grandmother of 6 with 1 more on the way.

Ellen was a proud graduate of the Boston Children's Hospital School of Nursing class of 1959 who turned in her cap to raise her 3 sons. When her sons were out of the nest she and Bill enjoyed spending summers by Lake Wentworth in Wolfeboro NH, and winters in North Fort Myers Florida. After Bill's passing time was spent traveling, and visiting with her dear sister Pat, coming north for visits with her children and grandchildren, and watching them grow up.

A private celebration of Ellen's life will be held by the Family. Contributions in her memory may be made to Home Health and Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park, Merrimack, NH 03054 and directed for the maintenance and expansion of the beautiful gardens at the Community Hospice House that gave Ellen so much joy.
