Eugene Patrick (Gene) Croghan, age 69, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Harlan, Iowa, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
Born on February 7, 1954, in Harlan, Iowa, Gene was the son of Joseph and Margaret (Schmitz) Croghan. He attended school in Manning and graduated from Manning High School with the class of 1973.
Gene spent many years as a plumber until his health began to decline. Being an avid hunter and fisherman, he took great pride in teaching Hunter Safety Classes, and teaching children about fishing. Another great love of Gene's was attending family gatherings. He was always quick to ask how all his nieces, nephews and families were doing. Since he wasn't able to fish as much in recent years, he would be very interested to know if they found a good fishing hole, and how the fish were biting.
Gene was preceded in death by this parents Joseph and Margaret, and his brothers John and William.
He is survived by his brothers: David (Patty) Croghan of St. Ignatius, MT; Charles Croghan of Manning, IA; Gerald (Nancy) Croghan of Manilla, IA; and James (Jody) Croghan of Ballwin, MO; sisters Patricia (Marc) Arp of Manning IA and JoAnne (Terry) Halbur of Prescott, AZ; sisters-in-law: Mary Kruse of Massena, IA and Virginia Croghan of Carroll, IA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
