Eugene Felix Rybicki

RYBICKI, Eugene F. Age 96. Beloved husband of the late Gisela E. Dear father of Evelyn F. (Mills), Susan A. (Ferus), and the late Sandra E. (Rybicki). Brother of Edward A. (Rybicki). Also 3 grandchildren Sarah (Mills) Giovannangeli, Jason (Mills), and the late Eric (Ferus) and 4 great-grandchildren Brandon, Jared, Joshua, and Caleb. Born in Detroit and raised in Hamtramck. He became a career soldier after being drafted in to the Armed Forces, in 1945, and served more than 23 active years with the US Army in places such as Korea, Europe, and the United States.
Gene later became a letter carrier with the US Postal Service and continued to serve as a letter carrier for more than 21 years, for a total of more than 44 and 1/2 years of combined government service. While retired, he worked as a city election worker. He supported all veteran programs and was an active VFW life member and held numerous Post positions with the VFW Post 6250. He was the Past Post Commander of VFW Post 6250 from 1993-1995, a member of AARP, National Association for Uniformed Services, the NALC, TREA, a former member with the Sears Kingsley Singers, Senior Citizen bowling leagues, the P.L.A.V. Post #169, and numerous other organizations.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, December 17 at 4pm. A Memorial Service will be held during the visitation at 6pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Inurnment will take place Monday, December 18 at 11am at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Sterling Heights VFW Post 6250.
