Eva Barros

Eva Barros, 90, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at her home in Lindenhurst, IL. She was born August 16, 1931 in Cuba, lived in Spain before moving to the United States in 1974. She was formerly of Mundelein and had been living in Lindenhurst for the past 24 years.
Eva was a very talented artist who loved drawing cartoons characters and still painting as a young woman, dreaming of visiting the Louvre and Prado Museums to see great works of art, a dream she realized later in life. She developed into a fine handbag designer, enjoying canvas painting and building complex puzzles of famous art works in her spare time. She was a strong and courageous working mother that inspired those around her, especially her grandchildren who she was like a mother to.
Eva came from a country of oppression and fought for her freedom for herself and her family. It was very important to her that her children would get a proper education and she would achieve this and more. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her, especially her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Margarita (Christo Gournias) Aguilera, Diana (Larry) Veerkamp; and by her two grandchildren, David (Sarah Petersen) Veerkamp, and Amanda Veerkamp.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jose Barros in 1997, and by her grandson Joseph.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., until the time of service at Noon, Monday, June 13, 2022 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rte. 176 one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) Libertyville.
Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, Illinois.
