Dear Tracy, Cindy, Pam, Kathy, and Penny,
I am deeply saddened to learn of Tillie's passing. I can still see her standing in her kitchen at 218 N. Penn Street, laughing, as Tracy and I would debate the merits of a peanut butter sandwich folded over versus cut diagonally, while she would happily prepare one sandwich to each of our fussy seven year old specifications.
As decades passed, from the time when I was an awkward, insecure girl, through becoming a grown woman with children of my own in tow, Tillie always welcomed me into her home with genuine warmth, encouragement, compassion and love. She was the Bonus Mom of my childhood and I loved her.
My deepest condolences to each of you and your families, and most especially to Tracy, in the loss of your lovely, sweet and strong mother.
