SMITH - Rev. Everett Smith, age 92, died peacefully at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque on April 27, 2011, from complications of pneumonia after battling Parkinson’s Disease and emphysema for several years. He was born April 26, 1919 in Hollister, CA. In 1942, he married Mary Smith of March, MO. He lived in the South Valley of Albuquerque for 60 years and was the pastor of Valley Gospel Tabernacle, an Assemblies of God church. He was named Outstanding South Valley Resident in 2003. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary. Survivors include his sister, Grace Lowe of Vancouver, WA; brother, Herb Smith of San Jose, CA; son, Kenny of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Lola Compton and husband Don of Santa Fe, NM; daughter Mary Helen Garrison and husband Ward of Logan, NM, and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit French - University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, 87102, on Tuesday, May 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 10 a.m., at Family Worship Center, 7311 Glenrio NW. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, 87107. Dinner will follow the service at the church. Streaming of the service will be on the internet at http://www.fwcabq.org/#/media. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can me made to Valley Gospel Tabernacle, 1820 Valley Rd. Bro. Smith touched so many lives in so many ways. He will be missed, but we are all sure that he his doing one-handed pushups in Heaven!! He has attained what he preached/teached about for many years; ETERNAL LIFE!
