Frank Lee Fentress, Sr. Virginia Beach - Frank Lee Fentress, Sr., 100, of Seaside Health Center at Atlantic Shores, formerly of Laurel View Drive in Linlier, entered his heavenly home on August 30, 2009. Mr. Fentress was born in Princess Anne County on May 4, 1909, to the late Joshua and Bertha Fentress. He graduated from North Carolina State College in 1931 with a degree in electrical engineering. He later attended University of Virginia and Columbia University earning his masters degree in education in 1940. He was principal of Courthouse Elementary School and Kempsville High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Fentress was one of the founders of Be-Lo Markets and owner of Be-Lo Market in London Bridge from 1955 until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Virginia Beach, serving as Sunday school teacher, deacon, and trustee. Mr. Fentress was preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Ruby Butt Fentress, grandson, West Fentress, and five brothers: Kenny, Harry, Will, John, and Ernest Fentress. Survivors include two sons, Frank Lee Fentress, Jr., and wife Ruby, and William C. Fentress and wife, Alice; 4 grandchildren, Frank L. Fentress, III, and wife Amy, William C. Fentress, Jr., and wife Jan, Brian C. Fentress and wife, Becky, and Mandy Fentress Moser and husband, Mark, and eight great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Virginia Beach on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at 2:00 PM The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff and nurses of Seaside Health Center and Harbourway for their loving care and attention during the last few years.. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Virginia Beach, 401 35th Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel is handling arrangements.
