Frank Barton Hill, age 87, of Centerview, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at home.
Frank Barton Hill was born in rural Johnson County, Missouri on December 6, 1936 to Isaac Jack Hill and Lucille Belle (Haller) Hill. Frank grew up on a farm and married Nancy Eleanor Atwell on December 16, 1956 at the Centerview ME Church.
Frank farmed his entire life, first with his father and uncles, and later with his son, Warren. He never retired, stopping recently when health issues prevented his ability to continue. He had a deep appreciation for the land and the heritage of his farmstead. He cared for his animals with a kind and compassionate heart. He was tireless in his love and devotion to family. He and Nancy raised their two children, Warren and Eleanor with that same devotion to family and caring for the land they were blessed to farm and live on.
Frank's belief in God and the Lord Jesus Christ was paramount and permeated all aspects of his life. He was an active member of the Centerview United Methodist Church and later, the Church of Hope. He served as a Sunday School teacher, as Chairman of the Board, Lay Leader and Worship Leader.
Frank is remembered for never using a cross word towards a family member. He was a man of few words, yet when words were spoken, they were important. Frank had a dry sense of humor and often smirked when others "got the joke". He was dependable and worked hard from dawn to dark. Frank was a man of prayer. His mealtime prayers were meaningful and comforting. He made people feel welcome and was always generous in helping others. Frank was musical and in addition to church and family sing alongs, he used his guitar and voice to bring comfort to others at over 100 funerals. He loved the hymns of the church and the songs in the Country Western Gospel Hymn Book. He read his Bible daily and scripture was important.
Frank is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nancy Eleanor (Atwell) Hill, his daughter, Eleanor Irene Hill of
Overland Park, KS and son Warren Douglas Hill of Raymore, MO and his wife Jean. Five grandchildren: Logan Hill and wife Lacy of
Morenci, Arizona, Beth Colombatto and husband Mark of Lee's Summit, MO, Tamara Salazar and husband Jesse of Mansfield,Texas, Emily Giovanni and husband Matthew of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Kimberly Geswein and husband Keith of
