My friend Fred was the most upbeat person I know. He was always pleasant, cheerful. And he was a good friend.
Pat & Kathleen worked at Woolworths as 16yr olds. Kathleen was paid 5 cents an hour more than Pat, something Pat complained about for the next 50 years, to much laughter.
We had occasional Friday night Penny ante poker games at their apartment, and we dutifully showed up with our little pouch of Pennies and a 6 pack of Rheingold. We were all pretty poor in the early 60s, and not smart enough to worry about it.
We loved Pat & Fred dearly, and I am heartbroken to learn of Fred´s passing.
