A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 10:00am-1:00pm at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME 9200 S. 27th St. Oak Creek followed by a service at 1:00pm. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.




We mournfully announce the passing of G. Darrell Wimmer, 72, of Oak Creek, WI. Darrell passed away on October 30, 2022, one day short of his 73rd birthday.

Darrell was born to Rufus and Mary Lou Wimmer on October 31, 1949 in War, West Virginia. He was a force to be reckoned with from the get go, graduating from Whitewood High School in 1968. Following graduation, Darrell enlisted in the United States Air Force and was a Munitions Maintenance Specialist and Explosive Operator.

Darrell was married to his wife Theresa (nee Simonetti) for 51 years. They had two wonderful daughters Jennifer (The Original) Wimmer and Carrie (The Favorite) Silkey with bonus Son-in-Law Kevin Silkey. He was the best Pa in the world to his grandchildren Ethan, Benjamin, Maximus, Madeline, and Callahan. When Darrell retired, he devoted most of his time to fishing and family.

Darrell was also an active member of Sons of the American Legion, American Legion Post 434 Oak Creek, Legion Honor Guard, Oak Creek VFW Post 8482, and VFW Honor Guard. He was an avid Honor Flight fundraiser with his partner George, selling more bracelets than anyone would have thought possible. Darrell was also Oak Creek American Legion Veteran of the Year (2017) and the Oak Creek VFW Veteran of the Year (2018).

Services will be held Thursday, November 3rd at Heritage Funeral Home in Oak Creek. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service at 1 p.m. Interment with military honors to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Oak Creek.

In true Darrell fashion, please attend in jeans and a flannel.

Darrell lived a full and vibrant life with more friends than you could count. His family meant more to him than words can describe. We will miss him dearly.
