Garnett Bowers Rush (November 21, 1947-January 6, 2023) lived a life full of love, adventure, and creativity. She had a marvelous way with words and greatly enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing. Her bold laugh was one-of-a-kind and contagious.
Garnett was born in Richmond, VA to Gamble and Virginia Bowers. She was the youngest sister to Gamble Bowers II and Sallie Evans.
She is survived by her two children: Trey (wife Dana and children Miles and Theo) and Palmer Neubauer (husband Jody, children Marilla, Jameson, Jonah, and Sadie). Garnett will be missed by family, friends and Contessa "Tess" Sophia, her beloved English Springer Spaniel and Oliver, the cat.
After earning her bachelor's from Agnes Scott College, she settled in Nashville, TN to raise a family and worked as a Probation Manager for the State of Tennessee. Garnett spent her free time enjoying life with her late husband, Charles Ray Rush, especially camping, traveling, and scuba diving. She also spent several years volunteering with Tennessee Trails Association.
Grandchildren inspired Garnett to move 11 years ago to Maryville, TN. She spent this time with family and friends. She stayed busy teaching water aerobics, biking, hiking, creating original art, and traveling. She was often seen working in her yard and driving her lawnmower, fast.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
