Gene Robert Beers, age 75, of Westford, formerly of West Concord, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Mass General Hospital following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Dawn S. (Scicchitani) Beers.
Born in Ford Bank New Brunswick, Canada, on May 16, 1948, Gene was the son of the late James Stanley Beers and Mildred Eliza (Cail) Beers. He was raised along with his seven brothers in Ford Bank New Brunswick until they moved to Massachusetts in 1962 and settled in West Concord. Gene was a 1966 graduate of Concord Carlisle High School.
Gene and Dawn married on June 6, 1968, and began a family together; they moved to Westford in 1977, where they still reside. You could always find Gene coaching his son's hockey teams or rooting for his beloved Montreal Canadiens. Later in life, he could always be seen cheering on his grandchildren.
He worked as a software developer before starting his own company in 1981 where he worked for many years. In retirement Gene enjoyed golf, traveling, and returning to Canada to visit relatives. Most of all Gene loved doing yard work on his John Deere tractor.
Beloved husband to Dawn and devoted father to Robert and his wife Tracy of Peabody, Jeremy and his wife Mary of Littleton, and Matthew and his wife Rebecca of Nelson NH. He was also the loving grandfather to Evan, Justin, Ryan, Emma, Kylie, Olivia, Madilyn, Noah, and Isaac, as well as a great-grandfather to Calliope. He is survived by his brothers Wayne of Ford Bank, New Brunswick, and Richard and his wife Joan of Sudbury, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Gene for a period of visitation on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton, MA. The Burial Service will be private.
